Wet and windy weather will affect morning travel in south-central PA on Wednesday

Rain and wind are expected to affect the morning and midday commute Wednesday

INCREASE OVER LAST YEAR. NOW THE WGAL NEWS 8 STORM FORECASTING TEAM WITH CHIEF METEOROLOGIST JOE CALHOUN CALM. NO CARLISLE STREETS OR DRY NOW WILL BE THE CASE, I THINK FOR TOMORROW MORNING AS WELL. RIGHT NOW IN CARLISLE WE ARE AT 43. THE OBSERVING SYSTEM THERE AND IT IS AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM CAN ONLY SEE CLOUDS AT 10,000 FEET OR BELOW. So the clouds are a bit higher but will start to thicken as we go through the overnight south east breeze at about ten. SO WITH THOSE SOUTHERN BREEZES AND MORE CLOUDS COMING, THEY DESIGNED TO FALL. A LOT WILL REMAIN, PROBABLY NEAR 40. OVERNIGHT TONIGHT THE RAIN STOPS AS WE MOVE INTO THE MORNING HOURS. THEN, THROUGHOUT THE MORNING, IT IS A PERIOD OF IMPACT. RAINY, GUSTLY. SOME OF THAT RAIN COULD COME DOWN A LITTLE WITH THE AREA, BUT I DON’T THINK IT’S ANYTHING SERIOUS THERE. THOSE GUSTY WINDS, EVEN THOUGH THE RAIN WILL LET UP, WILL ACTUALLY CONTINUE TO STRONGER. I think in the afternoon. THAT 56 IS PROBABLY around noon. IN THE EVENING WE WILL PROBABLY BE DOWN INTO THE FOURTHS AND PROBABLY NOT ABOVE THAT WE WILL GO INTO THE 30S. TEMPERATURES NOW SOMETHING ABOUT 11 AND THE LANCASTER TEMPERATURE, BUT WITH CLOUDS THEY ARE A BIT WORSE IN THE WEST. 45 IN CHAMBERSBURG AT THIS TIME. MUCH WARMER AIR IS LOADING INTO THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. As I say, TEMPERATURES STAY FOOLISH FOR A LONG TIME. BUT THEN YOU GET INTO THE SINGLE AND TEENAGE CITY, COLDER AIR TYPICAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. BUT WHAT IS NOT TYPICAL ARE THESE HARD FUTURES IN PARTS OF THE DEEP SOUTH. More than a dozen tornadoes were reported in parts of Mississippi. ZIPPY, MOST AROUND THE JACKSON AREA. ONE WAS REPORTED CONFIRMED IN LOUISIANA. SEE THESE CLOUDS COMING FROM THE SOUTH. THAT’S COASTAL HIGH PRESSURE PUMPING THAT WARM, MOIST AIR AS THAT COLDER AIR COMES SOUTH AND EAST STORMS AHEAD OF IT. SNOW IN THE BACK AND COLD. AND WE WILL FEEL THAT COLD PATTERN THAT HAS BEEN THE PATTERN FOR SEVERAL FALLS SO FAR. COLD AIR DOESN’T STICK VERY MUCH. WE DON’T EXPECT IT. TEMPERATURES WILL APPROACH 50 THROUGHOUT THE MORNING. HERE COMES THAT RAIN AND IT CONTINUES UNTIL THE MORNING HOURS. BUT AFTERNOON, MOST OF THE RAIN STOPS AND WE START TO LIMIT. WE SEE TEMPERATURES LATE IN THE DAY IN THE 40S AND THEN FAST DOWN TO THE THIRTS, DOWN TO NEAR FREEZING. ALTHOUGH THURSDAY STARTS OUT WITH A FEW CLOUDS, I THINK WE WILL SEE A LOT OF SUNNY IN THE AFTERNOON, IT WILL ONLY BE AROUND 40 AND A LITTLE WINDY TO LOOK AT THE WIND GUSTS TOMORROW. BETWEEN THAT 20 AND 30 RANGE EVEN IF WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE AND EARLY AFTERNOON. WINDS GUSTING NOW, BUT SEEING GUSTS TO 20, 30 MPH AS THURSDAY GOES AWAY. THAT WILL DO IT. LET’S LET’S GET EVEN COLDER. IMPACT DAY FOR TOMORROW. RAINY AND WINDY. TEMPERATURES IN THE FIVE BUT THAT’S THE MIDDLE AND THEN IT COOLS. IT LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO FEEL LIKE YOUR TEENS AND 20S as we head into Thursday and Friday, but just a little.
