In September, Miranda Lambert began her residency in Las Vegas, Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency. The residency will run until July 2023. In an interview with Music Connection, Lambert revealed one of the most exciting parts of Velvet Rodeo the show is when “her jacket catches fire”.

Miranda Lambert’s ‘jacket catches fire’ at her Las Vegas residence
Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo the residency takes place at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood. Speaking with Music Connection, Lambert discussed what it’s been like wearing Velvet Rodeo so far.
“I like the fact that every seat is a good seat, and it’s intimate, because it’s a theater. The fact that it’s a stationary show, where we don’t have to move our stuff every night in trucks and travel to the next town allows us to have a lot more production than we’ve ever had. The cross between a big production and everyone being able to see is a successful juxtaposition,” said Lambert.
She added: “And my jacket catches on fire, which is pretty cool.”

How Miranda Lambert Chose the Setlist for ‘Velvet Rodeo’
Leading up to the beginning Velvet RodeoLambert worked hard to create the perfect residency listing.
“I spent a lot of time selecting the songs. It’s what started the whole thing. We didn’t do any design or production until we had perfected the set list. My music director, Danny Mitchell, went through my entire catalog. Our biggest question was how do we get from “kerosene” to Palomino?” Lambert told Music Connection.
The country singer continued, “I wanted to have some nostalgia and also have some video elements. Those videos were really part of the songs, like ‘Kerosene,’ for example.”

In an interview with Vulture, Lambert revealed that he studied what other artists did for their Las Vegas residency.
“I think the ones I’ve been on the fence about are always the new ones. I went and did a reconnaissance trip, I call it. We went to Vegas to see three shows. We went to see George Strait, we went to see Shania, and we went to see Brooks & Dunn,” Lambert told Vulture.
She continued: “I just wanted to have a feeling. One thing I really took away from this was that they played all the songs I wanted to hear. They actually couldn’t get them all in because there are so many hits.”
What the country singer appreciates about the Las Vegas show
For Lambert, one of her highlights Velvet Rodeo The show performs “Carousel” from her 2022 album Palomino. The song makes Lambert “appreciate” her Las Vegas residency.
“That’s something I appreciate about the Las Vegas setting. You can highlight the lyrics more because you’re in the house and it’s controlled. For a song like that, it’s really cool to set it up and make the production part of the story,” Lambert told Music Connection.
