For those looking for a truly festive, family treat this season, a road trip to Warwick Castle at Christmas is the perfect fit.
Christmas at the Castle opened on Saturday with ice skating, Santa stories, a fabulous light trail and a food village in the stunning and beautifully decorated historic surroundings of Warwick Castle. The event runs until January 2nd.
The Great Hall is at its most stunning when decorated for the festive season with a 20 foot tree.
There’s plenty to enjoy – a range of seasonal entertainment, meeting jolly festive characters, browsing the Christmas market stalls and delicious food.
The trees are twinkling and the huge castle is lit up. Skating is great fun, with penguins and helpful whales helping the little ones travel across the ice.
The evening lighted trail features new elements for 2022 and takes visitors on a festive journey through 64 acres of grounds and gardens decked out in thousands of twinkling lights.
Impressive new installations include a medieval camp serving food and drink, new light tunnels and a special tribute to Queen Elizabeth II to surprise and delight visitors as thousands of twinkling lights shine across the iconic castle grounds.
There is a large screen showing a unique film made especially for the light trail and a special light switch has been added so that each evening the light trail can be switched on by someone different, from children to NHS workers.
A castle spokesman said: “Updates in 2022 mean visitors can now walk to the top of the mound and see the full spectacular view. We have incorporated accessible ramps into the peacock garden so that everyone can see the stunning illuminated surroundings. We also added a new bridge tunnel designed with bungee rope for added fun.”
Warwick Castle has recognized the incredible fundraising efforts of Britain’s Got Talent Midlands finalist Eva Abley by inviting her to officially launch the castle’s light trail this festive season.
On select winter dates, families can book a Santa Slumber Party at Warwick Castle in the Knights Village with festive flourishes including themed evening entertainment. Morning awakening is the sound of sleigh bells and Santa’s merry elves will bring a gift for the little ones.
