Jill Scott got a hero’s welcome for a queen of the jungle after winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2022, after reuniting with his fellow campers at the hotel.
Last night it was announced that former Lioness and Euro 2022 winner Jill had won the competition as the new Queen of the Jungle after more than 12 million votes were cast in the final, becoming the first openly LGBTQ+ woman ever to take the title.
Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner was declared runner-up, while former health secretary Matt Hancock finished third.
In voting figures released by ITV, it emerged that Jill was the clear front-runner to win, with Hancock exiting the competition with just over a fifth of the vote, when there were only three contestants left.
After her exit interview with Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly alongside Owen – which took place before her win was announced – Jill headed to the hotel where the other I’m A Celeb contestants were staying.
After walking through the front doors, she lunged towards her friends, jumping in the air and slamming her heels together as they cheered in her honor in a clip shared on Mike Tindall’s Instagram Story.
Loose Women presenter and ITV newsreader Charlene White was the first of the eliminated housemates to hug Jill, who was still wearing her I’m A Celebrity backpack.
Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver also joined in the hug alongside Charlene before Hancock came in for the next hug.
As Jill continued to go around the group for hugs, the cheering continued as everyone celebrated her return to the real world.
Before filming Jill’s hotel reunion with all her fellow I’m A Celebrity stars, Mike also shared a video of Owen arriving at the venue after landing second place.
“What a family,” he wrote in the caption, as the actor’s siblings rushed to wrap him in their arms, jumping for joy to be reunited.
Owen clung to his brothers in touching scenes before finally giving up to say hello to the people he’s grown so close to in the jungle.
During an interview on Good Morning Britain this morning, Jill admitted that she and Owen had “begged” the show’s producers to reveal the World Cup scores.
“I missed the World Cup games so much. Me and Owen were begging for the scores and they were like, ‘We can’t tell you, we can’t tell you,'” she recalled.
“The day we had a popsicle and the scores were revealed on the stick was one of the best days in the jungle.”
I’m A Celebrity is available to watch on ITV Hub.
