Hollywood Christmas Parade returns to Tinseltown – San Bernardino Sun

The 90th annual Hollywood Christmas Parade rolled through the streets of Tinseltown on Sunday evening, November 27, a show-bizzy sign that the holiday season has arrived.

Tough actor, entrepreneur and busy humanitarian Danny Trejo was the grand marshal of the parade, which started at 6pm from Hollywood Boulevard to Orange Street, turned east on Hollywood Boulevard to Vine Street, south on Vine to Sunset Boulevard and finally west on Sunset, returning to Orange Street.

Spectators lined the 5.2-mile, U-shaped route to watch more than 90 celebrities and VIPs — along with 10 four-story-tall character balloons, 14 musical or dance acts, a dozen marching band, four floats, including a new “Dinosaurs”. in the Valley,” with a float theme and approximately 50 movie and novelty cars.

Rounding off the evening was the annual visit from Santa Claus himself with his reindeer.

The parade draws attention to the Marine Toys for Tots program, which marks its 75th year. The program distributes an average of 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children each year.

Local marching bands and the parade playlist were the Pasadena Unified School Band; traditional Korean band PAVA World from Los Angeles; and the Los Angeles Catholic Schools Band of Torrance, as well as the US Marine Corps Band, based in San Diego.

Among the balloons scheduled were a 45-foot-tall Betty Boop, a 40-foot Toy Solider and a 35-foot Mighty Mouse, along with a giant gingerbread man, candy canes and various giant holiday ornaments.

Scheduled stars included Tom Arnold, a past marshal, cast members from the TV series “Bob Hearts Abishola,” “The Office” and several soap operas, the movies “A Christmas Story” and “A Miracle Before Christmas,” recently retired Dodgers. broadcaster Jaime Jarrín and vintage TV stars Butch Patrick (“The Munsters”) and Jerry Mathers (“Leave It To Beaver”).

Mayor Eric Garcetti and City Council members Mitch O’Farrell and Heather Hutt were among the dignitaries.
