Glasgow Theater Royal has been named one of the most beautiful theaters in the UK

These are officially the most beautiful theaters to visit this Christmas – according to science

Hotel chain Premier Inn has carried out an eye-tracking study of over 35 of the world’s most beautiful theaters to reveal which one catches the human eye the most – with Glasgow on the list.

The study used a unique way of looking at the objective beauty of theaters – participants were asked to look at a series of images of 36 of the world’s most famous theaters, looking at both the exterior building and the interior theater, and eye-tracking technology it was then used to reveal which images caught the human eye the most. Glasgow was ranked 10th for the UK ranking and 7th for interiors.

Opened in 1867, the Theater Royal Glasgow went through two fires before the turn of the century. From tall to thin, the theater has since presented a wide variety of productions spanning all genres, including residents Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. Boasting a Victorian auditorium, the Theater Royal presents first class entertainment for the city of Glasgow.

The open-air Minack Theatre, which sits on the weathered cliffs of Cornwall, came out on top, meaning it was the theater that participants thought was the most beautiful during the study. Originally built in 1930, the theater offers stunning panoramic views over the emerald waters of Porthcurno Bay. It was followed by the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and the Dubai Opera Theater in the world rankings.

In the UK ranking – the Minack Theater is followed by Shakespeare’s Globe, the Grand Opera House in Belfast and the Wales Millennium Centre. Glasgow had an average eye fixation duration of 1.555 seconds, compared to Minack’s 5.69 seconds – Shakespeare’s Globe had 4.19 seconds and Belfast’s Grand Opera House had 4.11 seconds.

Overall, the Royal Theater was the tenth most beautiful theater. A Premier Inn spokesperson commented: “The Christmas season is a wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends, knowing you can rest easy and enjoy the festivities by going to a beautiful theater to attend to a winter play or pantomime and then relax. with a great night’s sleep afterwards in a nearby Premier Inn.

“We were delighted to see that the UK is home to so many attractive theatres, but also wonderful to have stunning, travel-worthy buildings such as the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Palais Garnier also making the global rankings.”
